1/8/2023 0 Comments Sketchup pro 2014 stlbut I put those in separate folder from Known good files. and likely 90% of that 15k archive I have need plenty work before being printable. True but I have found some designers on Thingiverse like the pro section on the old 123D site that do excellent work and lots of it and they test print before uploading and give tips for best results plus a info file included. It would be nice if they would break off a section to post only confirmed printable objects so people who want to print things and not just admire them can go there and get things that will print. That said there is still a large number of files posted by artist that have no clue what it takes to make an object printable and probably do not even own a printer and simply hope somebody will print and post the finished object. It was started as a place for 3d artist to post their work and only over the last couple of years became a place for 3d printing as well. Thingiverse is OK, the issue is that it was never started as a repository for 3d printable items. cloud based sites dont count as they require dues and no downloads just orders like shapeways couple other sites also got bought out and made private or deleted. Sketchup had tons even if most were poor they could be repaired or used as starting point. only true repository left with new additions daily is Thingiverse now though. good thing I saved what I thought interesting while available. had over a dozen and now many thousands of files no longer available.
